A antique Brass Hegonal shaped Ships lamp, mounted with a brass plate marked - CLIPPER SHIP LAMP" No 1255 DUMBARTON SCOTLAND 1913. It is fitted with six glass windows, which are mounted in channels and protected behind three sturdy brass hoops. It is fitted with a lift out brass burner, which is working fine and is fitted with a clear glass chimney. It has air vents in its base and a conical shaped top, which is mounted with a fluted chimney air vent hood. It includes a handy solid Brass Handle for carrying, hanging or it can be displayed stood. Its total width measures 12" or 30.5 cm wide and it is 21 3/4" or 553 mm high to the top of its handle.
It is good quality and of durable construction, and has a gold painted finish. It is in good working condition and gives off all round light, making it perfect for lighting a garden or camping setting. Please see photos
I have managed to find information on why it is called a "Clipper ship lamp" which relates to this type of lamp, being made to celebrate the famous Cutty Sark Clipper ship, which was also made in Dumbarton, Scotland Circa 1869
