A rare antique Brass Candle Lamp, which was made by hand, using brass rivet. It is fitted with four windows, made of thin translucent sheets of horn, which gave it the old English name for a Lantern - "Lanthorn". The candle holder is mounted on a flat disk base, which has a fold up handle that is used to remove the base, for lighting or changing the candle. It has a circular handle for carrying or hanging purposes and is raised on four brass ball and claw feet. Its total height measures 11" or 28 cm high and it is 6 3/4" or 172 mm wide at its base. It can be used on a table/shelf or hung by its ring handle. It dates to the Georgian period and is in a good used condition, with a repair to one of its brass straps, which is situated inside and is unseen. Please see photos.
