Complete Harry Potter US Set! Six first printing copies, and a fourth printing copy of HP and the Sorcerer's Stone and three deluxe issues of the last three HP titles. There is a lot of information here. Please read ALL of the following before buying or asking questions.
NOTE: Lots of people on eBay are offering HP copies for $1000's being described as "First Editions" which are not in the collectible sense, and hence aren't worth premium money. To be "First Editions" in the collectible sense, they must be FIRST PRINTINGS of the first edition, and at least in the first 12 printings of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Unfortunately, Scholastic US stated "First American edition" on many of their reprints, so that statement alone on the copyright age does not make a book a first printing potentially worth $100's or $1000's and appears to be confusing people thinking if it states "First American edition" then therefore it's the same as a collectible first printing which it is not. Also, the books offered here are NOT book club editions.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) by J.K. Rowling Hardcover First US Edition - Fourth (4th) Printing - Second State Dust Jacket Scholastic 1998 (this printing released in 1998, the same year as the first printing; true first edition released by Bloomsbury UK in 1997). $16.95 cover price with "JK ROWLING" on the top of the spine with Publishers Weekly blurb. Purple diamond designs on the boards and a bright red cloth spine. Fine- in Fine Dust Jacket, a nearly perfect copy with little discernible reading wear. A little bit of shelf-wear and slight rubbing to the bottom of the boards, tiniest hint of a pinprick the upper edge of the back flap, else an exceptional copy, just about as nice a copy as you're likely to find.
Contains the following issue points: The printing number-line on the copyright page shows "4" (right-hand side) as the lowest number indicating this copy is a fourth (4th) printing copy and the year line goes to "8" meaning the copy was produced in 1998, the same year of the release of the first printing. Raised lettering on the front titles. Publisher's Weekly quote on the back. (Guardian UK quote appeared on the first two printings.) "J.K. ROWLING" on the top of the spine without the "Year 1" badge. (For the first four printings, "J.K. ROWLING" appeared at the top, later changed to "ROWLING", and then later with an added year badge.) This printing released in the US before Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. (The true first hardcover edition was published by Bloomsbury UK as HP and the Philosopher's Stone in 1997 which will run you about $100,000+ (I just saw a near fine copy at a book fair with an asking price of $325,000!) and the first trade US hardcover printing these days fetches about $2000 to $3000.) As of this posting, a fine copy of an original hardcover first printing published by Bloomsbury fetched $470,000 at auction! NOTE: This is NOT a book club edition!
SPECIAL NOTE on Edition: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling was first released in 1997 by Bloomsbury UK in a print-run for the hardcover trade edition in only 500 copies. Many hardcover copies of both editions were sent to libraries. In near fine or better condition, the former fetches $50,000+ and the latter about $2500 to $4000 in fine/fine condition. The first four trade printings have "J.K. Rowling" on the spine, and the first two with the London, Guardian quote. From the third printing and beyond, the quote was changed to one by Publishers' Weekly and from the fifth printing onward, the spine was which was changed to "ROWLING" (without J.K.), and then later to "ROWLING Year 1" after about the 20th printing.

NOTE on book club editions of HP boooks: There are a lot of book club copies of this ad other Harry Potter titles for sale which a lot of sellers believe are "first editions" because they have some issue points which are similar to the first trade editions. In terms of HP and the Sorcerer's Stone, these copies lack the diamond design on the boards, they lack a printed price on the dust jacket, and the boards are a dark red color. Do not pay anymore than about $25 for such copies. They have no premium value and if someone tried to resell such a copy to a first edition specialist, it would be declined most likely.
NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.
ALSO: The picture is of the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same books at a better price". My prices are based on many factors including supply, demand and sold items. Returns are only accepted because of discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase.

A Word on First Editions: 95% of my offerings are trade editions, and 90% of those are first printings. In general I do NOT sell book club editions or cheap reprints like Modern Library except in rare instances which would be explicitly stated as such. In general, I also DO NOT sell x-library copies.
