This book is considered by most country music historians to be THE definitive history of the Grand Ole Opry radio broadcast and the earliest days of country music from the 1920s through the 1940s. The author is Dr. Charles Wolfe (1943-2006), a professor at Middle Tennessee State University. His specialty was the history of early country and bluegrass music genres. He was a frequent (and excellent!) speaker on those subjects which also made his books more desirable. I live in Murfreesboro where MTSU is located and had the privilege to hear him speak on several occasions.  

Wolfe SIGNED this copy in my presence. I did not want him to inscribe it to me, but he started writing my name before I could stop him. Co-published by Vanderbilt University Press and The Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, the book is red cloth hardcover, stated First Edition and has the "1" in the number line, 312 pages with 16 chapters, 71 B&W photos & illustrations, 2 appendices, notes, sources, a discography, and an index. I would have graded the book as being in Like New condition, but there is a very light, tiny (1/8")  discoloration dot on the top edge of the page block. No other condition issues. The DJ is in Like New condition. The book will be carefully packaged to insure safe shipping. Sent with the book are 3 pages of additional information about Wolfe.
