Edmond Gauthier & Daum
A wonderful pair of 1925-30 French art deco lamps in wrought iron of outstanding quality produced by Edmond Gauthier, who had his workshop in the Parisian suburb of Bagnolet. The forged bases hold nice colored shades in mottled glass paste by Daum freres. Both are signed in acid Daum Nancy. The old Gauthier catalogs clearly show that Gauthier strictly used Daum shades for the lamps he made with colored glass. Over the years I also saw his bases on offer with Muller or Schneider shades but it were clearly modern marriages. The authentic lamps had Daum shades like the pair I have on offer now. Which is in excellent condition. 30,7 cm high. And the shades have a diameter of 13 cm.
The lamps are rewired with new cloth covered twisted cord and are equipped with European E14 sockets. For the States or Japan I will rewire the lamps with a US candelabra base sockets and US 2-prong plugs.
