with drawings by JOHN DUGAN

Published by Oliver and Boyd Limited as part of their Oliver and Boyd Quest Library, Edinburgh and London 1962

I take this to be a first edition.  Copyright page has "First Published 1962" and no other dates or edition notes.

Vintage illustrated book on the history and geography of Australia, prepared for schools in the UK in the early sixties and with all the now dated assertions and curiosities that marked our view of the world in those times.  "The white settlers usually took a benevolent attitude towards the natives to whom the land really belonged."

Appears to be a scarce volume.  Ex-school (John O'Gaunt County Modern School Hungerford) - school stamp on the verso of the front free end paper with written number below.  Number felt-tipped on to the front end paper.  End papers have a map of Australia.

The book is overall in good order.  Paperboard pictorial covers.  Rubbed; a little scraped.  Joints and edges scuffed and worn and there are some small marks and stains, but the boards are quite decent for a school book of this vintage.  Corners a little scuffed, light bumps to edges.  Internally there is some light toning.  Only a very occasional light mark or smudge.  A little creasing from handling, but overall the pages look good and clean and the binding is still solid.

pp 68. Book measures approx. 7 1/2 x 6 ins.

UK return accepted if book returned in same condition as received within 30 days of receipt.  Return postage not refunded.
