It has large, attractive, funnel-shaped flowers.
The white calla lily is a very intensively growing, prolific plant that lives in a special plant community known as calla marshes.
Here, as a dominant species, it defines the local landscape.
Its habitat is marshy for half of the year and dry wasteland for the other half, but this plant has adapted well to these conditions.
Its stem has evolved into a rhizome for storage, which is characteristic of this species only.
