Large Victorian Coromandel Jewellery Box with Two Drawers for RestorationThis would have been a fabulous box in its time and could be again, Coromandel veneer with brass stringing to the outside, plain brass escutcheon and cartouche, it has two drawers release by the two intricately engraved buttons inside that match the hinges. I think the tray is not original to the box.

Condition: The box is structurally sound but is showing its age and has some signs of previous restoration work. The veneer is missing from the bottom edge all away around and a little up the left hand side where there is also some brass stringing missing, the majority of the veneer that is present is in good order although there is a gouge to the top and some cracking, possibly replacements to the front sides and the side with the drawer. The side drawer does not currently close fully and will need an adjustment to the mechanism for this. There is a key that works the lock but it is not original and the strike plate catches are broken so it cannot be locked. The tray is probably not original. No bottles. Bottom drawer is in good order although a bit stiff. Brass work unpolished. Internal part of lid has been replaced with a plain sheet of wood.
