wall sconces by Vandamme & Verreries des Hanots
A nice pair of 1925-1935 wall sconces by Louis Vandamme holding shades in clear frosted pressed glass made by Verreries des Hanots. The heavy mounts are done in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. The wall lights are 14,96 inches (38 cm) wide. 9,84 inches (25 cm) high. And 4,53" (11,5 cm) deep. They are in very good condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mounts. This model Hanots shade is never signed. It is represented in the 1932 Holophane-Verreries des Hanots product catalog. The mounts are stamped VL. The foundry initials of Louis Vandamme. The sconces are rewired with American candelabra base sockets. For European countries I will place E14 ones. I have two pairs available. The price is for one pair.
Louis Vandamme had a large manufactory producing bronze and wrought iron lighting fixtures during the interbellum at16 rue Popincourt in Paris. Holophane was a large company producing industrial glass in high volumes, In the 20s and 30s they made high quality lamp shades under the name of Verreries des Hanots and vases and sculptures with their brand name Verlys. Most shades of Hanots are unsigned and therefor unknown to a larger public but together with Muller frères Jean Gauthier (EJG) and Degué Hanots was one of the four large glass factories making high quality lamp shades in molded-pressed glass.
I'm temporarily unable to ship packages to the USA. Because US customs haven't properly processed the new tariffs, most European shipping companies, including Dutch Post, have temporarily suspended shipping to the USA.
