Steve Prefontaine framed **Signature / Autograph**  
 


Steve Prefontaine has to be one of the most iconic American runners of all time. He was legendary in that he set American records at every distance from the 2,000 meters to the 10,000 meters from 1973-1975. 
 
Steve won the gold medal in the 1971 Pan American Games in the 5,000 meters.
 
While running for the University of Oregon he was coached by Bill Bowerman and Bill Dellinger. Steve won the NCAA Division I Cross-Country Championships a record three times. He won the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 1970, 1971 and 1973.  
 
He won the NCAA Track and Field Championships in the 3 mile or 5,000 meters in 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1973. 

Steve won the AAU Track and Field Championships in the 3 mile in 1971 and 1973.
 
Steve won the 1972 United States Olympic Trials in the 5,000 meters.

Prefontaine placed 4th in the 5,000 meters in the 1972 Munich Olympics.
