ATR Sports has been servicing the Etobicoke and neighboring communities since 2008. A passion project of Mohamed Merali, who at that time was attending school full time in Scarborough, working at a national sporting store, and moonlighting as a technical rep for racquet companies. Mohamed recognized that there was a gap in the marketplace and jumped at the opportunity to open his own retail store specializing in racquet sports equipment, footwear, and apparel.

As a sole proprietor, Mohamed offers his customers a personal experience when they come into the store. The early growth in his business was primarily from referrals and then in 2015 Mohamed was selected by the City of Toronto for the New Business Starter Program, a grant that helped to expand his business and achieve his personal goals.
Since then, ATR Sports has moved to its new location on the Queensway and offers customers a larger assortment. Always striving to differentiate himself and offer more to his customers. Mohamed is always introducing new products and services to his clients. Recently, ATR launched a demo program for squash, tennis, and badminton racquets that allows customers to “test run” up to 3 racquets for a week before making their purchase. Mohamed also offers a variety of services to its customers, from stringing of racquets, to assessing someone’s gait for shoes and orthotics – ATR is your one-stop shop for your sport needs.
