Custom Pokémon TCG Battle Deck - Orthworm's Vengeance

Have you ever wanted to try competitive Pokémon but don't know where to start? Here is your shot!

I've always enjoyed deck building and theory crafting more than playing. This deck almost certainly won't win a regional, but with your friends, kids, or a local, this should be competitive. And, this deck is fully legal for tournament use as of 5/22/2025. All cards are currently in rotation.

The pre-made decks from PTCG Co. have no strategy, no synergy, and poor balance of cards. This deck has all of those at a budget price point. You will receive a deck made of all the cards shown. (Actual art may vary between sets)

If you've been following my decks for a bit, you likely know that I'm a HUGE fan of the Super Kaizo Ironmon challenge. It is currently the most difficult Pokémon challenge available, and has not been defeated despite over 100k attempts. You can lose your run in many ways, but one of the most frustrating is Counter, an attack that deals double damage back to you. That is the inspiration for today's new deck!

Most of the time, meta decks want to prevent the opponent from having options. Whether it's item lock, or hand disruption, or abilities to prevent you from attacking. This deck is different. You WANT to be hit.

Orthworm's ability is a Counter ability: put two damage counters on the attacking pokemon for each metal energy you have. Well, Metang is perfect here, helping you to accelerate quickly because honestly, 4 energy is a LOT for the weak damage output. That's fine. 4 metal energy is 8 damage counters. Got Spiky Energy equipped? That's 2 more. Oh, Deluxe Bomb too? That's 12 more. Suddenly that 150 damage doesn't look too shabby.

To keep the damage counters flowing, Dusknoir line is here to help spread damage, finish off benched Mon, and put the fear of attacking into your opponent.

Nice Budew. Would be a shame if someone counter attacked it turn 1.
