Rare Anchor — Black Sea Find — 1950–1960s — Iron 32.3 lb — Raised & Restored
A handsome, honest piece of maritime history: an iron anchor recovered from
~13 m depth and carefully conserved this spring. Industrial welds combined with forged
elements are typical of the post-war era when arc-welding spread in the USSR
(the Paton school). A statement object for homes, restaurants, marinas or offices.
- Origin: Black Sea, Kinburn Spit & Berezan Island area (Mykolaiv region, Ukraine)
- Period estimate: 1950–1960s (per expert consultations; weld/forge characteristics)
- Material: iron / steel (forged + welded construction)
- Conservation: sandblasted, acid-degreased, anti-corrosion primed
- Custom finish: painting to any color on request (+3 days drying time)
From the seabed to your deck
The Black Sea keeps its stories quiet: patrol boats sliding through mist, fishermen sharing piers
with naval crews, hydrography launches charting shoals. This anchor slept below for decades until
a calm summer of 2020 brought it back to daylight. It still carries the matte sheen of the deep,
the blunt lines of utility, and the quiet dignity of proven service.
Display it by an entry, in a seaside bar, yacht club, country house or loft — it anchors a space
both literally and metaphorically.
