Here we offer the stated first UK hardback edition, very early 17th printing, of the classic novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, (known in the US as "...Sorcerer's Stone,") by J. K. Rowling, published by Bloomsbury, London, in 1997.  The book comes wrapped in the highest quality facsimile of the first edition dust jacket you can only get here, digitally remastered and printed on coated heavyweight bond. The polymer coating on the paper ensures the brightest colors and sharpest prints, as the ink sits atop the paper rather than being absorbed into the fibers.

Also included in the sale is an attractive collection of ephemera: a laminated map of Hogwarts Castle, Harry's Hogwarts acceptance letter with necessaries list, and a train ticket to Hogwarts. Also included is a new package of Bertie Bott's Beans.

This copy features the original brown-haired wizard on the rear board and dust jacket panel. This does include the copyright page first "point," (feature identifying the priority of a first edition) of “First published in Great Britain in 1997” stated 2 lines above “Joanne Rowling” rather than “J.K. Rowling.” The ISBN is listed for both books (0 7475 3274 5 Paperback, and 0 7475 3269 9 Hardback).

Errata (errors):
  • Page 15, line 3: “Potter’s son” was corrected to “Potters’ son” in later editions.
  • Page 17, line 31: “I’ll be takin' Sirius his bike back” was corrected to “I’d best get his bike away” in later editions.
  • Page 31, line 34: Stray apostrophe not yet removed from before “Harry could see...”
  • Page 87, line 31: “Hogwarts, a History” was corrected to “Hogwarts: a History” in later editions. 
  • Page 168, line 9: “’Dittany’ in One Hundred Magical Herbs and Fungi” was corrected to “’Dittany’ in One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi” in later editions. 
This copy does not include the "1 wand" misprint on page 53, though that error is not a gauge of priority, as there are many early printings without the misprint, and some much later prints that do feature it. 

Very little shelfwear (please see pics).  Endpages are intact, bearing a Hogwarts bookplate. Very tight and square binding.  Very clean, bright, and crisp text. Dust jacket comes sleeved in ph-neutral Mylar, ready to slip into your collection. The book measures approximately 8 x 5.5-inches. 223 pages.
