Here is a gorgeous sterling silver item!

This is a sterling silver match safe/match striking vesta. It features an intricate poppy flower with leaves and tendrils in the Art Nouveau style. 

The match safe measures 2 5/8” long by 1 5/8” wide. It is marked 

“STERLING”

inside the match safe near the hinge, which you can see in one of the photos. No maker’s mark is included.

One side has an old English font monogram of the letters

“CMD”, 

The other side has a monogram of the letters

“MMA”.

Perhaps this was a gift, with the monogram of the giver on one side and the recipient on the other?

Condition is excellent gently used condition! There are a few light surface scuffs. No other sign of use or wear of any kind, and damage at all.
