Huang Feihong Nan Quan: Routine I Of Feihong Quan by Chen Nianen DVD

 

 

 


Huang Feihong was a Hongquan master at the end of the Qing Dynasty. The Routine I of Feihong Quan is a set of basic boxing that uses sound and exhalation to increase the power of strikes. It also covers bridge techniques, a special hand posture used in Nan Quan which is characteristic of this style.

Huang Feihong was a Hongquan master at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. Routine Two of Feihong Quan is a good routine to practice making strong sounds and forceful breathing. Yongchun Quan is one of traditional routines in southern wushu. It is said to have been created by Master Wumei of the Southern Shaolin style for his excellent student Yongchun. It is still a favorite exercise for wushu lovers all around the world.

The main characteristic of Yongchun Quan is a bent defensive arm that protects the torso. It is based on actual combat, and enables the practitioner to counterattack effectively.

It is said that Buddhist Arhat Boxing was passed down by a Lama from Tibet to a dignitary with Nanlin Temple in Guangzhou. Afterwards, it was accepted by Southern WuLin (Wushu circle) and became part of Southern Boxing (Nan Quan). It consists of extending movements, changing hand techniques, forceful punches, and fast footwork. It is an essential combination of southern boxing techniques and northern leg techniques, so it is simple and easy to use for actual combat.

There is a saying in southern Wushu: "Merge the boxing and qi into one." It means that one's boxing originates from one's qi. The Jinglong Life-enhancing Method is combined with the essentials of the internal exercise from the Buddha school, Sun-Style Taijiquan, Wu-style Taijiquan, Liuhequan (Six Conformities Boxing) and so on, and it forms a unique Southern Boxing Life-enhancing Kung Fu. It emphasizes settling qi into the body's core through abdominal respiration and stimulating the acupuncture points with energy.
