From the 1894 book "THE ART OF THE WORLD -- ILLUSTRATED IN THE PAINTINGS, STATUARY & ARCHITECTURE OF THE WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION" depicts a scene of rural Polish life in the aftermath of a storm.
The photogravure was
done by Goupil, is beautifully detailed. The paper size is 15.75 inches by 11.12
inches; the image size is 11.5 x 7.75 inches. Printed on a heavy cotton rag. The effect is sepia tone.
The original publication (source of the print), edited by Ripley Hitchcock, was featured at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. It featured illustrations of artworks from various countries, reflecting the international scope of the exposition, including reproductions of paintings, photographs of sculptures, and architectural renderings of the exposition's buildings. It contained many types of illustrations, including photogravures, and color "typogravures".
