Last Chance Mining Company

Date: 1896
Serial: 718

Detail: Lithographed certificate with vignette of Washington at left. 15 x 10.25 inches. Eight of the original twelve coupons attached at bottom. This bond promised to pay 6% interest between 1896 and 1902. Four coupons were removed, suggesting the company defaulted after no more than two years. Although this bond represented a mere $10 investment, the name of the company was probably not the best choice for creating confidence in repayment.
Condition: issued and uncancelled.
