Up for sale is a fun Franciscan group!

This group is a set of four dinner plates from their iconic and highly collected Starburst dinnerware pattern.

Designed in 1954 by Franciscan designer Mary C. Brown, Starburst evoked the feel of the coming Space Age, with futuristic shapes and design. It featured rayed stars in turquoise, chartreuse, and olive green on thick elliptical shapes. Starburst was an instant success, and enjoys the same appeal today.

The dinner plates measure 10 3/4” by 10 1/4”. Three of the dinner plates have a circular mark reading

This mark dates these plates between 1954 and 1958.

The fourth plate is marked

“Franciscan ©®

This mark dates this plate between January and June 1963, in case this is of interest to you.

Condition is excellent! There is a wee bit of decal wear on a couple of the plates, and a faint utensil scuff or two, but that is all that keeps these plates from being mint. No other sign of use or wear, and no damage at all. 

FYI--Due to the elliptical shape of these plates, they will be packed in an oversize carton to protect the edges. This may affect the shipping cost, depending on your ship-to location.
