Beautiful tin ex voto (Latin; short for “ex voto suscepto” or “from the vow made”) or Milagro (Spanish; “miracle” or “surprise”) in the form of a heart reminiscent of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and representing love and devotion. The heart is marked with “GR,” meaning “Grace Received” ("Grazia Ricevuta" in Italian). Ex-votos and Milagros are carried as devotional objects and to give thanks for granted prayers and intentions. They are a votive offering to Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary, or a saint, given in fulfillment of a vow or in gratitude or devotion. The ex voto or Milagro measures approximately 3 1/2" wide x 5 1/4" high. The age of the ex voto or Milagro is unknown, but it appears to be vintage. The ex voto or Milagro appears to be handmade and may be from Mexico. Estate sale find. This ex voto or Milagro is a beautiful and inspiring Catholic devotional and piece of folk art!

The ex voto or Milagro appears to be in good to very good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, indentations, pits, discoloration, spots, oxidation, and tarnishing. Some of the outer edges of the fleurs de lys and tips of the flames above the heart are slightly bent. The tips of the flames may also have some sharp points or edges. There appear to be several indentations in the heart. There may also be some minor soiling in the recessed areas. Some of the imperfections may be a result of the manufacturing process.
