J. Nowill & Sons was a British knife company with a history that dates back to the 1700s and was based in Sheffield. In 1851 the company won a Prize Medal at the Great Exhibition for their knives and in 1881 the company registered their first silver mark. In 1932 the company sadly went bankrupt due to debt and in 1947 Esmond Nowill sold the company to F. E. & J. R. Hopkinson Ltd.
