PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Waterproof and hermetic self-adhesive tape made of butyl-rubber mass strengthened with tear resistant aluminium foil. Made in Poland, EU.

Our Flashband is a butyl, not bitumen, type of tape.

Bitumen and butyl are both used in a variety of applications, but they have different properties and uses: 

Composition: Bitumen is a viscous petroleum byproduct that can be a black liquid or a solid mass. Butyl is a colorless synthetic rubber made from isobutylene and isoprene.  

Temperature range: Butyl can perform at temperatures as low as -40°C, while most bitumen products are limited to -10°C. 

Elasticity: Butyl resists expansion and contraction better than bitumen. Bitumen will dry out over time, reducing the effectiveness of flashing.

Sound and vibration absorption: Butyl has excellent sound and vibration absorption. 

Application: Butyl is easy to apply, with no pre-heating or primer required but it does not adhere well to very rough surfaces.

Environmental impact: Butyl is environmentally friendly and has high resistance to alkalis, acids, and salts. 

Butyl tape have many uses, including:

Windows and doors, repair holes in gutters, and waterproof roofs and foundations, can be used to seal off equipment in industrial manufacturing to prevent air, water, gas, and heat from getting in or out. Caravan, motorhome (US: RV) body work repairs, car, van soundproofing, ventilation systems, air heat pumps, air conditioning units, vent tunnels, insulation boards joining, cracks, gaps and many more.
