Item Description
Vintage and very scarce "Kabelmesser" utility folding knife from the 1940's.
The Kabelmesser is a special knife used to strip the insulation from electrical cables.
One of the older forms is a simple folding knife, which was designed to make
stripping cable insulation easier thanks to a round recess on the blade.
This type of pocket knives were used by the German, Wehrmacht electrician's pioneers
of times of the WWII for cable dismantling, cable stripping or cable sheath-splitting.
But also to open ammo cartons, ration packs and other utility tasks.
Blade made of high carbon steel with black textolite handle marked with PATENT.
The blade of the knife is stamped from the one side with:
96 - maybe it was served in the 96th Infantry Division.
The knife is in overall good preserved authentically condition for its age
with restored razor sharp blade. There are some injuries on the handle.
The spring of the knife is strong and tight.
The blade is firmly attached to the handle without any play.
