The fall of the berlin wall set

The Berlin wall to this day remains the most powerful symbol of the Cold War. It divided not only a country but also families, streets, and even some houses. On the night of 9th November 1989, thousands of people in East and West Berlin gathered around the wall, and at midnight, they began to freely cross the border and bring down the wall. The fall of the berlin wall signified the end of the Cold War.

This set has brought together a coin from both East and West Germany, both issued in 1989 to mark the fall of the berlin wall. The west German coin features an eagle and 11 shields - each one representing a state from the federal Republic of Germany. The East German coin also features shields and depicts a hammer and compass emblem. Separating the coins is an original piece of the berlin wall still marked with graffiti.
