Material: scratch resistant closed cell military grade 2.25# foam. Oil & solvent resistant.
OEM open cell foam= deteriorates rapidly - is chemically attacked by oils (don't we use that to preserve our knives?) Does not handle weight well.
Military style cases are waterproof (resistant), dustproof air seal & secure lockable storage + nameplates do set yours apart from the rest.
