-Description: This is the original artwork for the comic strip ADVENTURES OF A LITTLE GOLF BALL AT HOME by Clare Briggs.  Briggs created many different daily and Sunday comic strips in the early 20th century, under a variety of titles and themes, many "one-off" titles/strips.  This was one of those.  This strip features a golf ball, imprisoned away in the bottom of a golf bag, until he gains his freedom and embarks on a series of adventures with his "family".  Cute gag beautifully rendered by Briggs, an unjustly forgotten cartoonist and humorist who was one of the early 20th century's most beloved cartoonists.  REL  

Condition: 

The art (16 panels) is drawn on a section of Bristol Board which is 17.5" wide by 10" tall.  The image area completely fills the Bristol Board.  There is a border drawn or ruled around the edges of the strip artwork.  

The Bristol Board is affixed to a larger piece of heavier art board which is approximately 20.5" wide by 13.5" tall. The title of the strip is written below the Bristol Board on the larger piece of art board.  

The Bristol Board (on which the art is drawn) is intact with minor to moderate creasing/toning and age/handling wear.  The border around the edge of the strip is intact/complete all around.    

The larger piece of art board (to which the Bristol Board is affixed) is damaged.  The left lower edge has a section missing and the left lower corner is missing.  The entire right edge is missing, up to the edge of the Bristol Board.  The lower right corner is also missing.  The lower edge is irregular with some erosion.  There are tape repairs/ reinforcements to the reverse of the larger piece of art board. Pencil notes to reverse.
