This S-Video cable is designed to transfer high-definition video from your DVD, HD DVD, Blu-ray, DVR, Satellite/Cable Box, VHS, etc. to your TV. It is designed to provide the most accurate signal transfer, with minimal loss of fidelity. It can be used with any type of video equipment that uses S-video connections.
In S -video, the signal is separated into two components hence the term Separate Video or S-video. Two 75 ohm coaxial cables are used to transmit the two-component signals. One of the coaxial cables carries the Luma (brightness or Y component) while the second 75-ohm coaxial cable carries the chroma (color or C component). S-video provides a sharper image than composite video because it separates the video signal into two components while composite video utilizes only one coaxial cable to transmit both signals.
