From 1984 to 1991, Topps created 'Glossy All Star' sets to distribute as inserts with regular issue products.

All 8 sets use the same format and often misidentified by year. Such that '1986 All-Star' cards are the 1987 issue.

The final year 1991, with 1990 All-Stars, adds the Topps '40 Years of Baseball' logo on card fronts.

ADDITIONALLY, there are variations of ALL cards in the 1986, 1988 and 1989 sets. With either 1 (*) or 2 (**) asterisks before copyright on back.
