1930/40's Hand Embroidered Petit Point Purse with brass, intricately decorative frame and lift clasp. This purse truly is a miniature work of art!  Both sides and the edge panel have a black ground with a multitude of flower varieties created in needle point of dozens of hues. The high quality decorated gilt frame has etched and fretted design; top carry chain handle, brass chain and rings. The embroidery is of a high standard and the petit point threads - in a wealth of shades and hues - demonstrate complex intricacy.

Inside, the lining is excellent condition. There are two gold-edged internal pockets, a small, flawless coin purse connected to the handbag with a delicate ball chain, and a slightly-frayed tag which reads:  HAND MADE, GENUINE PETIT-POINT. MADE IN AUSTRIA. 

Measures : widest 19 cm (7.5 ") , height 12 cm (5") excluding clasp and frame. Chain is 10". Clasp is unusually wide, a generous 3.5" (8.9 cm.)

Condition : QUITE GOOD for it's vintage age! Structurally excellent, all hardware is secure with very little scuffing, wear, or scratches. All seams and tapestry threads secure and intact. Lining and inside pockets in excellent condition. Outside black background fabric is faded in spots, but needlework still bright and beautiful. Excellent for its 90ish years of age!
