Not to be confused with Compton Potters' Arts Guild operating out of Surrey, this "Compton Ware" is a far more commercial art pottery marked "Compton Ware". Dating from the early 1900s it originates from the potteries that have specific trade links to Yorkshire and Birmingham. Rather than the rustic terracotta designs of the Compton potters, these products were made exhibiting finely painted mostly floral paterns most notably delicate pinks and reds. A defining characteristic of these pieces is the addition of a solid sterling silver rim.
