The Blue Damselfly with its great looking extended body pattern is one of the top-producing dry-fly patterns of all time, because it works well in a variety of conditions and is just irresistible to the fish! The Damselfly can be an incredibly productive fly on the evening rise.
Fish your Damselfly upstream in the conventional manner. Let it float down stream below you then raise your rod and skitter the fly back upstream with short jerks. Many strikes will come as the fly is retrieved upstream.
This variation that features a parachute long body with hackle stacker and wings is an excellent choice for a change-up pattern.
The tall wing profile and extended body are the perfect compliments to the standard Superfly to make this a true "Dragonfly."
A very effective searching pattern in sizes 12-14 for most freestone streams.
