-Description: This is the original artwork for the daily 11-28-1977 daily comic strip Steve Canyon by the legendary Milt Caniff.  Caniff, dubbed the 'Rembrandt of the Comic Strip' created "Terry and the Pirates" before leaving for his creator-owned strip, Steve Canyon.  In this exciting daily, Leighton Olson, Pipeline Polly and their friends (which look to include Steve's longtime sidekick, Happy Easter) are being rescued from a burning waterfront warehouse after being trapped there.  Leighton (son of Steve Canyon's wife, Summer Olson) and Polly had thwarted a plan to sabotage an oil pipeline but had been captured by the villains and imprisoned in the warehouse.  After the warehouse caught fire, a loading boom with net is used to attempt a rescue, and the intrepid adventurers are able to grab on, hoping to be lifted to safety.  Just when things are taking a turn for the better, however, the winch engine dies, leaving Leighton, Polly and their friends in peril.  A true cliffhanger.  It all ends well, though as the heroes end up on a freighter in the harbor.  A beautifully designed daily, superbly rendered by Caniff in his trademark chiaroscuro nearly-impressionist style.  Few have ever drawn comic strips better than Caniff, an acknowledged master of the art form.   AM

-The art is in excellent overall condition.  Minor age/handling wear.  White out corrections to artwork.  Editorial blue pencil notes/markings to margins.  Pencil notes to reverse.
