This is a card bearing the signature of William Russo (1928–2003), an American composer, arranger,
and musician. Russo was a prolific composer
who wrote works of jazz, of classical music, and
of a blend of those two forms. Russo worked
with many of the most well-known 20th century
jazz and classical musicians, such as Stan Kenton,
Maynard Ferguson, Seiji Ozawa, and Leonard Bernstein.
Russo founded the London Jazz Orchestra, and
also founded the music department at Columbia
College, Chicago, the Chicago Free Theater, and
the Chicago Jazz Ensemble. He was the director
for the Center for New Music, and was the Director
of Orchestral Studies at Scuola Europea d'Orchestra
Jazz in Palermo, Italy.
Russo's list of compositions is quite extensive.
