These DIY plans show how to build it as a garden ornament or planter, as above, which could also be displayed indoors.
It has been used as a wedding centre piece and a TV show prop.
Turn it into a rocking boat for the younger sailors to enjoy. You can add a little pair of oars too.
A 5' (1.5m) mini version of our Winchelsea design.
Although I have said "new" we have built quite a few of these and the uses for this little boat are many - a garden ornament, planter, indoor feature, book shelf unit, wedding or exhibition centrepiece, a rocking boat for kids, toy box, pond decoration and this is just what we've built so far have been used for.
Now, and this is the "new" part, we have drawn up full size patterns and step by step instructions package so that you can build your own.
The step by step instruction manual and a total of 2 A0 sheets of paper plank patterns, 6 A3 sheets detailing how to build the boat without the patterns if you prefer.
Build this great little boat from 3/4 a sheet of 4mm and 1/2 a sheet of 6mm ply and a length of stripwood.
Although the plans give the patterns for the breasthook, knees and thwarts in plywood, solid wood could be used to make this look even better.
Details for the rockers and their supports is also given.
It is built in the same way as the full size version so it could be useful as a trial build before you try a full size boat of this type of build.
