This is a replacement bushing in brass or steel to replace the plastic one that is failure prone.  The plastic ones get hard and break, then you need to get a new transmission.  These are similar to the replacements that Ford installs at the dealer.  Pictures show where they are installed in a fox body mustang.  They fit others like the lincolns and the Thunderbird with the cable adjuster.  I have used them on many cars when they rebuilt the transmission.
