This is an absolutely stunning and very rare large 2.5 inch tall antique Victorian - Belle Epoque Shell Cameo Pendant Brooch Pin with a hand carved image of a Guardian Angel with Child walking on a mountain top set in a beautiful scrolling design.
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty and the imagery is very rare. The angel's wings are gorgeous as are the drapes of the clothing, the faces of the angel and boy and the wonderful detail in the boy's legs. The landscape with its rocky imagery on the top of a mountain is exquisite.
The cameo is set in a beautiful braided gold filled setting. The cameo brooch can be easily worn as a pendant necklace by placing a chain through the scrolling border as we have shown in the photos.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most beautiful carved gems we have seen. The Guardian Angel and Boy is a delicate romantic jewel of the utmost beauty and style. The cameo pendant brooch dates to circa 1850-1900.
The brooch is 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cm) tall and is 2 1/8 inches (53mm) wide.
The piece is 12mm deep.
The brooch weighs 31.2 grams.
