The coin is dedicated to Zhytomyrshchyna, an old region situated in the centre of Ukraine on the border of the Forest Steppe and Polissia (Polesia). The economic potential basis of the Zhytomyr Oblast is diversified agriculture (cultivation of the grain crops, hop, flax) as well as production of porcelain and faience. The region is also rich in such natural resources as granite, ilmenite, quartzite, marble, etc.
