Antique Silver Plate Top, Cut Glass Biscuit Jar by the Meriden B. Company.  The lid is marked 4978.  The cut glass jar is a thumbprint and star design.  The glass does have a small chip out of the lip which fits under the lid and is not seen.  The lid is an unusual design with a knob that has two posts sticking out.  The design around the edge of the lid is floral.  The jar measures 8 1/2" high and is 6" wide across the middle.  There are no other chips, cracks, or breaks.

Most of the items that I sell are antique or vintage as as such they do show signs of patina, use, and age.  That only adds to the character that so many collectors desire.  If there are any major issues or defects, I try to describe them to the best of my ability and as accurately as possible.  In the event that I do miss something with words, I provide you with plenty of pictures to be included as part of the description.
