Vitamin K2 and mitochondria

• Vitamin K2 acts directly on the mitochondria of cells and, like coenzyme Q10, functions as an electron carrier in the mitochondria, activates ATP synthesis and compensates for mitochondrial dysfunction.
• In addition, vitamin K is a cofactor of the enzyme gamma-glutamylcarboxylase, which is responsible for the synthesis of osteocalcin (a non-collagenous protein). The presence of the right amount of vitamin K makes it possible to bind calcium to osteoid – the bone-building substance.
