OVERVIEW
Car Collector was published monthly starting in January 1978 by Classic Publishing in Norcross and later Atlanta, Georgia. The magazine focused on the hobby of collecting classic, antique and nostalgia cars. The publisher was Fred Lawson, and the first editor was Donald Peterson.
After one year of publication, Mr. Lawson purchased Car Classics, which was folded into Car Collector magazine and became Car Collector and Car Classics with the February, 1979 issue. And then in 1988, Lawson purchased Nostalgic Cars from Dobbs Publishing, and it too was folded into this title.
