15 Polestar Runner Beans 

This British bred variety is prized for its sweet flavour & completely 
stringless, fleshy pods. 

Extremely reliable, this early & prolific cropper is considered one of the 
top 5 runner beans. 

Long bright green, smooth 10 inch pods filled with delicious beans that 
can be eaten raw when young & tender, cooked, frozen & dried for later use.

Beans when dried are a dark purple with brown/black speckles on them.

6.5 feet tall with bright red flowers

These will require support such as wigwams or netted frames as they grow 
quickly and very large. 

You can grow these up your sweetcorn plants if short on space.

Full sun, well drained soil

Sow 2 inches deep

Stake as soon as possible after germination in 5 to 7 days

Start indoors March through April

Transplant after all risk of frost has passed, 12 inches apart

Protect from late frosts and keep well watered.

Direct sow/transplant May through July

Succession sow every 2 weeks for constant supply of beans

Matures 75 to 80 days, August through October

Any good garden soil will do, but the best crops are obtained after 
deep digging & liberal manuring.

Well drained soil and will need at least an inch of water per week 
during growing period

Companion plants - Sweet Peas, Cosmos, Sunflowers, Zinnia & 
like flowers to attract pollinating insects to the flowers & 
Nasturtiums to repel pests.
