Takes Three to Tango (Until Our Next Dance), 2022
Acrylic on Cotton and Linen Blend
18 x 24 Inches

This Henri Matisse inspired work depicts three animals engaged in a dance; the Canine is a link between the Jackdaw and the Rabbit. The hands of the Canine and Rabbit are deeply interlinked whereas the Canine releases the Jackdaw as he leaves the dance. The painting is bold and flat, reminiscent of cartoons or children's books, yet the content is mature, reflecting on the beauties and difficulties of polyamorous relationships, especially transitioning from a long term monogamous relationship to something different. In this painting, the Canine is the hinge between the other partners and is struggling to balance the relationships as the Jackdaw flies away and the Rabbit is weighed down to the earth.

This piece was featured in Vee CR's solo exhibition, "What is Love?" in July, 2022.
