I will polish and paint a set of 4 good used Mercedes 14" stainless steel hubcaps for you to the paint code you specify. I try to use good quality hubcaps for refinishing and do not bother refinishing those with excessive dents, scuffs or major imperfections.
These hubcaps will fit a variety of classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles which came with 14" diameter rims, and these particular hubcaps are designed to cover the entire wheel (rather than the center-mounted hubcaps found on Mercedes throughout the early-mid 1960's). Photos show examples of my previous work for the quality you can expect.
Each set of hubcaps takes a considerable amount of time and attention to detail to polish. When I do a set of these caps, it's basically the equivalent of creating four pieces of jewelry for your car. Each cap requires an extreme attention to detail and safety, as well as a very powerful (and dangerous) industrial buffing machine. An entire set of caps can take anywhere from 40-60 hours of labor from start to finish, which includes metal work (dent/ding removal (metal work), prep work, polishing, and painting, and post-processing as well as re-work if a defect is found and needs to be re-worked. So imagine the amount of work it costs to have a custom wedding ring made and all the attention to detail required. And multiply that by four. That's roughly the amount of effort taken to get these to a nice, uniform mirror-like finish that you would be proud to put on your car, and hence why it's expensive, and the price will only go up in the future.
Should you desire more hubcaps (i.e. 5 hubcaps) or would like both a set of hubcaps and wheels, let me know and I can create a custom listing for you.
QUALITY:
I will polish and paint a set of 4 good used Mercedes hubcaps for you to a "mid-level" finish. This price point will be a "mid-grade" finish which is not absolute perfection but good enough for most people and certainly enough to make you stand out at most "cars and coffee" type gatherings. It basically a 8 out of 10 in terms of both paint finish and polish/shine of the metal surface. They will still be considerably above average in terms of overall appearance over unpolished hubcaps. Even
brand new hubcaps are not polished this nice from the factory. This seller does offer a "top-grade" finish for those who desire and have the budget for the absolute best for their vintage Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The top-level finish is basically a 9.5 out of 10 in terms of both paint finish and polish/shine of the metal surface, but it costs more money due to the considerably more time to get the finish from a mid-level finish to a top-level, show quality finish.
For this "mid-grade" finish, I will take out most small medium sized dents as well as most scratches/scuffs, but for this price, I will not be able to take out ALL pre-existing dents/dings and imperfections in the hubcaps. Your hubcaps will be polished to bright mirror-like shine and be painted to the paint code which you specify. The polish on the stainless will be done in 2 stages and will be very shiny but may still show some fine scratches, swirls and minor imperfections upon close inspection, but it will still look stunning and exhibit a great shine from a standing distance of 5-10 feet away. The paint may have some minor flaws and some dust nibs, and may not have a maximum shine/polish finish, but will still look great from 5-10 feet away.
