Vintage 1963-65 Tressy Doll Mid-Blonde Hair Grow Hair Doll in Handmade Dress

This is a listing for a 1960s Tressy, the American Character toy company’s teen fashion doll marketed with adjustable length hair and high-heeled feet. This doll has a plastic jointed body, vinyl head, rooted mid-blonde hair, very nice painted facial features, blue side-glancing eyes, soft gray eyeliner, light blue eye shadow, subtle pink cheeks and coral-red lips. Its soft vinyl arms and plastic legs are a bit darker than its torso. Its unbendable legs sit straight ahead when doll is seated and an identifying mark is on the back of the head — American Char. 1963, in a logo circle. The apparel is a vintage handmade cotton crocheted off-white sleeveless dress with two metal snaps for dress closure, and matching vest that ties closed at neckline.

CONDITION: Doll is in very good vintage condition, no splits and no chew marks. Note, it has very minor storage grime and scuffs on the torso, legs and feet. The dress also has storage and use grime and is not laundered. IMPORTANT: The hair is soft yet missing some hair plugs here and there; the winding mechanism is intact but the plastic key is NOT included in this listing. Originally, a key was inserted into a slot on the doll’s back to retract its ponytail. A push button on its stomach allowed the hair to grow. Keys were usually lost so to shorten the doll’s hair, any small flat edge such as a metal cuticle pusher or flat screw driver gently inserted in the back button will wind the hair back.
