Patination Oil should be used on lead roofing, flashings and cladding to give a uniform, attractive appearance where the lead is visible. The oil includes compounds designed to remove light oxide staining to produce a clean metallic surface on application. It is also necessary when water flowing from the Lead Sheet surface may come into contact with other visible building materials. Patination Oil should be applied to newly installed Lead by the end of the working day so that carbonate does not have a chance to form.
