Beautiful vintage LE Smith glass candy dish from the early 1960s in amberina. Pattern - sometimes called "Petal" sometimes called "Simplicity Flame" - is gorgeous with organically flowing, clean lines and design. A blend of art noveau and mid century modern styling, but not really belonging in either category; it exemplifies and important niche within the late-fifty's American design ethos. 

I inherited this compote from an aunt who passed away in 1995. Various attributions place it as manufactured in 1960 or 1965. May have been part of a Viking-manufactured line. I've used it as a display piece not realizing it apparently once had a lid. There are no lid rim lines that make it obvious that there was once a lid, so it's a nice display piece or vessel either way.  

It's condition is beautiful, glossy, and unmarred. There are a few light scratches and scuff marks on the bottom where it's been slid on a display shelf for periodic dusting or cleaning. Other than that, no scratches, cracks, chips, or damage. I can find no indications of manufacturer, though those who collect LE Smith might have a better eye. 

This is a heavy piece, weighting nearly 3 pounds, and I'll pack it well.
