"Bogdan Khmelnitsky" is a Soviet black-and-white feature film about Bohdan Khmelnitsky, filmed at the Kiev Film Studio in 1941. For viewers of all ages.
The script of the film was based on the drama of the same name by Alexander Korneichuk in 1938, which had previously been staged in theaters of the USSR (including the Maly Theater) and for which in 1941 the author was awarded the Stalin Prize of the first degree.
Bogdan Khmelnitsky is the leader of the national liberation uprising with the aim of liberation from the Polish-Lithuanian government, as a result of which the Left-Bank Ukraine and Kiev finally withdrew from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
The film was released in March 1941.
Historical and propaganda film, in the center of which the first stages of the Khmelnytsky uprising, including the Battle of Yellow Waters and the capture of Korsun in 1648.
