Description

A wonderful and very and rare Norwegian "Solje" brooch in Silver Gilt by the esteemed maker Marius Hammer.  The Solje was often used as part of the traditional Norwegian folk costume known as the Bunad.   This jewel is 830 silver and gilded with hand made and applied details with pendant drops. It has a 2 deeply domed centers.  This is one of the most beautiful and rare Solje Brooches from Norway and it is in superb condition.  Marius Hammer is considered to be the finest Norwegian silversmith and his works are absolutely exquisite.  This is a gorgoeus example with extraordinary filigree work done with such fine details.  Such a treasure!

The brooch is 2 3/8 inches (6 cm) long and is 1 3/8 inches (38mm) wide.
The brooch is hallmarked 830S for 830 Silver with the Marius Hammer mark of M and the hammer.
