This alphabetical order, write-on/wipe-off activity set, with a Thanksgiving theme, is adorable! It is brand new and in excellent condition! I laminated the sheets, so they could be used with a fine-tip dry erase marker, and then wiped clean with a cloth or tissue, so they could be reused. One page does have a wrinkle in it, from top to bottom, that occurred during the laminating process. I have enclosed 2 closeup photos of this. This set comes from a smoke free home.
I received this set at a Title I, after school workshop for teachers when I was teaching 1st grade. It consists of 5 sheets that measure 8.5" x 11". Two of the pages were originally black and white, so I colored in the image on one and added stickers to another to make them more inviting to children.
The "ABC Order Thanksgiving" sheet has a black title and is illustrated with a cute turkey in various shades of brown and a Pilgrim bear wearing a blue outfit with a white collar and a hat with black band and gold buckle. There is a place for children to print their name, up at the top of the page, that is designated with a small picture of a pencil. Under the title are directions. This page has 2 sections that are set up the same. There is a word bank of 5 words and a box with 5 numbered blanks. Children have to put the 5 words in alphabetical order.
The "Thanksgiving Feast" page has a black title with directions underneath it. On both sides of the title, I put a festive sticker with a cornstalk, pumpkins, and geese flying South. This sheet has 16 words, on the left-hand side that deal with items you eat/drink at Thanksgiving. On the right side of the page are 16 lines. Children have to put the 16 words in alphabetical order from top to bottom. Here, they have to alphabetize by the second and third letter, as there are 2-3 words that both begin with the same letter.
The "Thanksgiving Words in Alphabetical Order" sheet has a title in brown and a place for children to print their name at the top. There are directions, in black print, below the title. This page is illustrated, with an image of a small brown turkey, to the right of the directions. On the left side of this sheet are 8 words that are printed in brown. On the right side, there are 8 numbered boxes. Children have to record the words, in alphabetical order, 1-8. Here, they have to alphabetize by the second letter, as there are a couple of words that begin with the same letter.
The "November ABC Order" page is illustrated with an image of a Pilgrim boy and girl, dressed in black and white, and an Indian girl, dressed in deerskin, who is holding a platter of fruit and vegetables. This sheet has a black title and a place for children to print their name at the top. There are directions below the title. Under that, there is a string of Fall leaves, in different shapes, in the colors of brown, orange, and yellow. Underneath that, there is a word bank of 7 words. And, below that, the alphabet is written in capital letters, so children can refer to it, if needed, when completing the page. Below the alphabet, are 7 numbered lines. Children have to use the words from the bank and record them in alphabetical order. Here, they also have to alphabetize by the second letter, as there are 2 words that begin with the same letter.
The colorful "I am Thankful For . . ." sheet has a title in brown, light green, teal, red, and orange letters. It is illustrated with a brown, googly-eyed turkey with tail feathers tipped in yellow. Below the title/image, are 2 columns of capital letters, from A-Z, in the same colors as those used in the title. After each letter is a dashed line. Children have to think of items they are thankful for, that begin with each letter of the alphabet, and record them on the lines.
This set would make a wonderful addition to a 2nd or 3rd grade classroom to be used during Literacy Centers around Thanksgiving! It would also be great to have in a household with young children! I am hoping to find this set a good home.
