SIGNED BY THE FORMER U.S. SENATOR, WITH A LENGTHY GENERIC INSCRIPTION,
Nancy Landon Kassebaum: A Senate Profile.

This book is as rare as it gets.  Hard to find ever, in any condition, this one is not only signed with her full name, "Nancy Landon Kassebaum Baker," it also features the lengthiest generic inscription you could ever ask for, making it a PERFECT GIFT or KEEPSAKE, "With my warmest best wishes, Nancy Landon Kassebaum Baker, Tokyo, Kyoto Japan June 17, 2002"

Have never seen another copy of this book, could only find one unsigned copy listed anywhere on the internet, and it selling for $1,112.21.  Finding a signed one would be near impossible.  This terrific, generic inscription makes it downright unique.

And it gets better!

Also included will be a special "Challenge of Change" advertisement in Japanese likely placed in the book when it was signed.  Based on a translation app, it was promoting a talk the former Senator gave about the challenges of change for women in the 21st century.  At the time, in 2002, she was the wife of the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, her second husband, former U.S. Senator from Tennessee and President Reagan's Chief of Staff, Howard Baker.

Nancy Landon Kassebaum served the great state of Kansas in the United States Senate from 1978-1997.  According to Wikipedia, "She was the first woman ever elected to a full term in the U.S. Senate without her husband having previously served in Congress..."

This paperback was published in 1998 by John Gordon Burke Publisher, Inc., and written by Nancy Cayton Myers.  Part of the Contemporary Profiles and Policy Series for the Younger Reader, although the detailed material within these 70 pages is clearly written for a college level audience.
